Championships 2019
Dear All,
The Championships this year will be held on 1 and 2
June with Solos on Saturday 1 and Bands on Sunday 2. The venue is FURENINTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, Sembawang.
The JUVENILE event is restricted only by age (being that
any member of a Juvenile band must not be more than 18 years of age before the
date of the contest}; except that the Piping Tutor, who may be over 18, can
play as Pipe Major. Members of the Juvenile band can also compete in a Graded
band.
We have also re-hashed the Solo events, to bring them
into line with international standards. Singaporean and participants of the
last several years have been graded and participants from other associations
will compete in the grade allocated by that association. Competitors from other
countries will be asked to play in the grade suggested by the Association on
the day, or may apply for a grading via audition tape.
For this year’s band championship, the FULL CIRCLE
format will be used, along with all relevant rules, as per the Pipe Bands
Australia website. Bands are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the rules.
As always, your early indication of participation will
assist us in planning. Entry forms are attached and the final date for entries
is 30 April. To assist with Juvenile control, we will require birthdates from
members of Juvenile bands. Prior to this year’s event, Singaporean competitors
will be registered with the Association. We have also had to amend our fees
policy, due to tighter sponsorship and will be asking for solo fees to
accompany your entries.
